15th - 17th July
Located 1hr from Milan Linate
This summer we invite you to join us at one of our culinary retreats, hosted at Il Casale Denari, a 15th century converted Augustinian convent. These retreats celebrate the season’s bounty, set within a breathtaking opulent location.
This July we are joined by Nerina Martinelli founder and head chef Luca Grimaldi of Il Nugolo, a Florentine restaurant where ingredients are at the heart of their recipes. Nerina and her team were recently featured on Stanley Tucci’s series Searching For Italy. Arrive at Casale Denari and settle into your room before joining Nerina and Luca for a candle lit dinner in the grounds. Awake to bird song, breakfast in bed and yoga, followed by a master class in all things pomodoro! Nerina’s passion for growing over 200 varieties of tomatoes will come through in this workshop. Together with the chef Luca they create dishes that enhance the inner qualities of each variety, looking at the acidity, colour and taste. In the afternoon head out on a nature walk, enjoy the local village, jump in the pool or head up to the spa, tucked away in the convents rafters, for a deep tissue massage. On Sunday the flower studio will open its doors for our guests to make their own bouquet ready to take home, before our farewell lunch.
About Nerina : Nerina grew up with her hands in the soil and often in the kitchen with her mother creating dishes with what they had grown. She came to London in 2015 to work in the kitchens of Petersham Nurseries, later moving into the research and development team, where her love of slow produce grew. When returning to her hometown of Florence with this love of seasonal and slow produce she founded her restaurant Nugolo.
